Nominations open for individuals whose leadership, innovation and service have helped shape Alberta agriculture and rural communities
For 75 years, Alberta's agricultural community has been built not only by the people who work the land, but also by the leaders, educators, researchers, advocates, entrepreneurs and volunteers whose contributions have helped strengthen rural Alberta.
As the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame celebrates its 75th anniversary, nominations are now open for individuals whose lasting contributions have helped shape the province's agricultural industry and rural communities.
Established in 1951, the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame is Agriculture and Irrigation's oldest and most prestigious recognition program. Since its creation, 144 Albertans have been inducted in recognition of outstanding contributions through leadership, innovation, research, education and service.
Every two years, up to three individuals are selected for induction.
Nominees can come from virtually any part of Alberta's agricultural community, including primary production, research, education, agri-food processing, rural leadership, policy and industry advocacy.
What connects those who receive the honour is the lasting impact of their work—not only on agriculture, but on the communities and people around them.
The Hall of Fame recognizes individual achievement while also celebrating the spirit of collaboration and community that has helped Alberta agriculture grow across generations.
Celebrating Alberta's Agricultural Legacy
The Hall of Fame serves a purpose beyond recognizing individual accomplishments. It also helps preserve the history of Alberta agriculture by sharing the stories of people whose dedication and leadership have helped shape the province.
Those stories reflect the important role agriculture continues to play in Alberta's economy and rural communities, while providing inspiration for future generations of producers, researchers, entrepreneurs and agricultural leaders.
The 75th anniversary provides an opportunity for agricultural organizations, rural communities, colleagues, friends and family members to consider the people whose contributions deserve to become part of Alberta's agricultural history.
For communities such as Two Hills and the surrounding agricultural region, where farming and agriculture remain an important part of local life, the call for nominations is also an opportunity to recognize the individuals who have quietly contributed to the strength and success of rural Alberta.
Nominations Open Until October 23
Nominations for the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame close October 23, 2026.
Successful nominees will join the distinguished group of Hall of Fame inductees and will be formally recognized at an induction ceremony in 2027.
